Edwin Earl Gill

Edwin Earl Gill, 87, of Dawson died on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Willson Hospice House in Albany.  A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m.

Earl was born February 20, 1928 in Ft. Gaines, Georgia, son of the late Emmett Clifford Gill and Tamzy Hasty Gill.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving from 1946 to 1947. Earl was a resident of Albany for a number of years and moved to Dawson in 1975.

He was a maintenance and salvage supervisor with Lilliston Implement & Manufacturing Company and retired with 25 years of service in 1988. He was married to the late Ellen Janette (Dollar) Gill who died in 2006.

Earl was a member of the Dawson Lions Club, and his favorite hobbies included fishing, hunting, cooking and traveling. In the 1960s, he was an auto mechanic and drag racer.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, David Gill and Emmett C. Gill, Jr. and five sisters, Pauline Bonner, Sara Thomas, Maureen Burke, Annette G. Norman and Barbara G. Bush.

Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Lynn Klodosky of Highlands, North Carolina and Kathy E. Gill of Lynwood, Washington; a sister, Melba G. Sands of Dowling Park, Florida; and a granddaughter, Kasey Klodosky of Highlands, North Carolina, as well as several nieces and nephews
