Spring of 2024 I contact Fred Hutch for the first time since I had “graduated” in 2022. I don’t remember why — but Dr. Linden wanted to get me into a trial. To do that, I had to still be Stage III, so we scheduled a CT or PET (I don’t remember). Maybe both?
In any case, even though I did not have elevated cancer markers, I had lesions on my upper spine. So instead of going onto a trial of Kisqali and Fulvestrant to try to prevent Stage IV, I was being treated. At my second three month scan, I was almost no evidence of active disease; at my third, I was there.
I’m now on six month scans; Fulvestrant shots every four weeks; blood work every four weeks; and Kisqali three weeks on, one week off.
It’s possible to finangle that schedule! Mike and I went to Scotland and Iceland for almost four weeks last spring.
For the past two springs, I’ve spent a week at the Outer Banks, NC.
It just takes planning!
While we were in Scotland, we lost our four-year old Cairn Terrier, Misty. In the fall, Stormy came home with us. 🙂
