Edwin “Earl” Gill, 87, of Dawson died on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Willson Hospice House in Albany. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Earl was born February 20, 1928 in Ft. Gaines, Georgia, son of the late Emmett Clifford Gill and Tamzy Hasty Gill. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1946 to 1947.
He was a maintenance and salvage supervisor with Lilliston Corp. and retired with 25 years of service in 1988. He was married to the late Ellen Dollar Gill who died in 2006. Earl and Ellen were residents of Albany for a number of years and moved to Dawson in l975.
Earl was a member of the Dawson Lions Club, and his favorite hobbies included fishing, hunting, and traveling.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Emmett C. Gill, Jr. and David Gill; five sisters, Annette G. Norman, Barbara G. Bush, Maureen Burke, Pauline Bonner, and Sara Thomas; and former wife Grace Helen Booth.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Elaine Gill of Lynnwood, WA, and Wanda Lynn Klodosky of Highlands, NC; a sister, Melba G. Sands of Dowling Park, FL; a granddaughter, Kasey Klodosky of Highlands, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
